A New Chapter in Prostate Care
Houston Physicians’ Hospital introduces the only UroNav Prostate Fusion Biopsy System in the Clear Lake and Webster area setting a new standard in prostate care and treatment. Harnessing the power of the MRI and using new technology, the UroNav allows surgeons to better identify suspicious areas and more accurately remove them.
Traditional prostate screening methods involve prostate-specific antigen tests (PSA) and digital rectal exams (DRE) and are not always reliable. The most reliable method of detecting prostate cancer is to surgically biopsy the area. However, the prostate is a difficult area to visualize and hard to position the biopsy needle. The current method, the trans-rectal ultrasound-guided prostate biopsy (TRUS), produces poor images causing the biopsy needle to pass through good tissue possibly completely missing the tumor.
